National Theatre Wales will be spending June 2013 with the people of Anglesey. Working with our friend Hugh Hughes of Hoipolloi , with the Welsh Music Foundation, and with artists from all over Wales, we are looking forward to sharing ideas, stories and a cuppa or two with as many of you as possible.
You'll see us in Llangefni, Holyhead, Trearddur Bay, up and down the A55, and anywhere you can get a good fried breakfast!
If you're in a band, or you want to get involved in acting, or you have something you really want to say about life on the island, we're here to work with you and get your ideas heard.
Things I Forgot I Remembered

19 - 22 June

For Things I Forgot I Remembered, Hugh looked back at his childhood journals. He was reminded of the kind of man he once imagined becoming. As a fully-grown man, with the urgent passion and full-hearted optimism of a child, Hugh looks at the complex world we live in and searches for simple answers, determined that this world, spiralling out of control, can be saved.
Join him for this quirky one-man show in Llangefni and Holyhead in June.
You can also join a free daytime story walk on any of the show days. Click here to find out more and reserve your place.

This year we’ll be piloting a ‘DIY Festival’ of new performance as part of our residency on the Isle of Anglesey. We’re not quite sure what’s going to happen yet because that depends on who turns up, what they want to work on and how they want to share it.
We want to be able to create a new way for artists to come together, to make new work whilst finding different ways of sharing it between them and with a wider audience. This is an invitation to artists: writers, directors, actors, choreographers, designers, performance artists, installation-makers, multi-media experimenters, technologists and developers to embrace the homemade and lo-fi aesthetics and help us create something unique.
We have arranged a venue, booked a campsite where festival-goers can pitch a tent and even cook up a storm each evening. So that we can do this, you should let us know you’re coming before 3rd June, and we think the best way to do that is via Eventbrite.
You’ll probably have lots of questions so we've made a FAQ page to help.

During our month-long residency, National Theatre Wales will be producing a Performance/Debate event, called Assembly, with and for the residents of Anglesey.
National Theatre Wales’ Assembly programme runs alongside its main productions, and offers participants an opportunity to experience theatre as a space for exploration and discussion. Assembly usually centres around a question or theme that is important to the community where the event is being held.
If you want to get involved or have an idea about what question we should be asking, please contact Gavin:

What happens when 20 artists come together for two weeks of play, reflection, collaboration and masterclasses?
Last year we ran the first WalesLab summer camp in Elan valley. This year we’re heading for the beauty of Trearddur Bay. What will happen there? We don’t know yet, but you can get an insight into what happened last year by watching the video, or following the daily updates on our Online Community.
WalesLab is National Theatre Wales’ artist development initiative supported by Esmée fairbairn foundation, supporting the next generation of Welsh theatre makers in the development
of their ideas. To find out more, click here.
