Wonderman: Cardiff

Gagglebabble & National Theatre Wales & Wales Millennium Centre

Adapted from

stories for adults

Script and lyrics by Daf James

Conceived by Daf James, Hannah McPake and Lucy Rivers

Following a three-week run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, multi-award-winning theatre company Gagglebabble will return to Wales with their unique gig-theatre take on Roald Dahl’s short stories for adults.

Combining a sizzling hot score of original live music, macabre characters, and thrilling twists and turns, all injected with a wicked sense of dark humour, Wonderman tells the story of a WWII RAF pilot who finds himself in a hospital bed, badly injured. As he slips in and out of a world of dreams, hallucinations and nightmares, we’re taken down the strange and unexpected corridors and rabbit holes of Roald Dahl's mind.

This is a celebration of the wonder of the world’s number one storyteller in his centenary year.

Prepare to expect the unexpected.

There is an enormous amount of talent packed onto a small stage for a brief time

Dahl… would have mightily approved

jolly fun at its most sinister

funny, freaky and brilliantly bizarre

the stories are brilliantly knitted together with flawless acting, astounding singing and phenomenal instrumentals

impressively slick

An astounding tribute to Roald Dahl’s infamous imagination

Wonderman is a spectacular show, not to be missed
